About the City Council

The City Council is the governing body of the City of Drain. It is made up of four City Councilors and one Mayor, all elected at‑large by the community. The Council guides city policy, adopts ordinances, and ensures decisions align with the city’s vision, mission, goals, and objectives.

Councilors are expected to attend all City Council meetings and participate fully in the decision‑making process. Before taking office, newly elected Councilors receive instruction on their obligations, responsibilities, and benefits.

  • Meeting Day: Second Monday of each month
  • Time: 6:00 p.m.
  • Location: Drain Civic Center 205 West “A” Avenue, Drain, OR 97435

Elections and Terms

  • The Mayor serves a two‑year term.
  • City Councilors serve four‑year terms.
  • Elections are held in November of even‑numbered years.
  • Newly elected officials are sworn in at the first Council meeting in January.
  • All elected officials must take an Oath of Office before beginning their duties.
